What to Expect From a 360° Photo Booth at Your Durban Event
How a 360° photo booth actually works on the night, how much space it needs and how to get the most out of it at a Durban event.
A 360° photo booth has become one of the most requested additions to weddings, matric dances and corporate functions in Durban — and for good reason. It turns a few seconds on a platform into a short, shareable video that guests send to their friends before the night is over.
Here is what actually happens on the night.
How it works
Guests step onto a raised platform. A camera arm rotates around them while they move, and the footage is processed instantly into a slow-motion clip with your chosen music, overlay and branding. The whole interaction takes under a minute per group.
What the space needs to look like
- Floor space: roughly 3m x 3m of clear, level ground so the arm can rotate safely.
- Height: around 2.5m of clearance — watch out for low marquee sections and chandeliers.
- Power: one standard plug point within reach.
- Position: near the dance floor, not tucked away in a corridor. Visibility is what drives use.
Lighting matters more than people expect
The booth brings its own lighting, but the surrounding room still shows in the frame. A dark corner reads as a dark video. A spot with some ambient light and a clean background — draping, greenery, a branded wall — lifts every clip.
Sharing on the night
Videos are delivered straight to guests by QR code, AirDrop or WhatsApp, usually within seconds of recording. For corporate events, the overlay can carry your logo, hashtag and campaign colours, which is where the real marketing value sits.
Getting the most out of it
- Open the booth after the formalities, once the room has relaxed.
- Put a small props table alongside it — sunglasses, signs, sparklers if the venue allows.
- Ask your MC to mention it once. One announcement usually doubles usage.
- Run it for three to four hours at a wedding; two hours is enough for most corporate functions.
Where it works best
We run the booth at weddings, matric dances, birthday parties, brand activations, product launches and year-end functions across Durban, Umhlanga, Ballito, Pietermaritzburg and the South Coast.
Pairing it with photography and video
The booth is a guest experience, not a replacement for coverage. It works best alongside event photography and videography — one captures the evening as it happened, the other hands your guests something to post.
