Wedding Photo Privacy: Agreeing on Sharing Before Your KZN Wedding
Agree on wedding-photo sharing preferences before booking or before the wedding briefing.
Agree on wedding-photo sharing preferences before booking or before the wedding briefing. Tell your photographer if particular guests, children, ceremonies or images should remain private, and ask how those preferences are recorded. Receiving a gallery and granting permission for marketing are separate conversations.
Be specific about what privacy means to you
You might be comfortable with couple portraits appearing publicly but want family images kept private. Another couple may prefer no public sharing at all. List any sensitive moments or guests without sending unnecessary personal information. Specific instructions are easier to follow than a general request to “be careful,” especially when several suppliers are involved.
Discuss children and guest preferences
Ask families privately if there are children or guests who should not appear in public posts. Make sure the photo team knows how to recognize the relevant people without announcing the request to everyone. A preference about marketing does not necessarily mean the person cannot appear in your private family gallery; clarify the distinction.
Check the agreement and gallery arrangements
Ask what the contract says about sharing, usage and access, and request written clarification where needed. Find out who can access the gallery and how links are shared. Do not assume that a link is private just because it is not posted on the homepage. Your photographer should explain the actual arrangements rather than promising a universal system used by every provider.
Include other suppliers and your own posts
Tell the video team and other relevant suppliers about the same restrictions. Consider whether guests will post images immediately and whether you want a polite request announced. If your preferences change, contact the suppliers directly and explain what you are asking to remove or keep private. Clear coordination is more effective than discovering a disagreement after the wedding.
Your planning checklist
- Write specific public-sharing preferences.
- Identify sensitive guests or moments discreetly.
- Review agreement and gallery access arrangements.
- Give relevant suppliers the same instructions.
Does booking wedding photography automatically settle marketing permission?
Do not assume it does. Read the agreement and ask how public sharing is handled for your booking, especially if you have specific privacy needs.
